About the artist
Windee’s art journey began at the age of 16, in the midst of unexpected life changes. While still a junior in high school, she discovered she was pregnant. Determined not to let that define her path, she made the bold decision to graduate early and enrolled in college art classes in watercolor and drawing. With the support from her school counselor, she was placed in art classes that ignited a lifelong passion for creativity and visual storytelling.
At age 17, Windee became a mother to a beautiful baby girl born on Halloween night. Together, they explored the world of art – drawing, painting, mosaics, clay and collage. Their love for art supplies and imagination knew no bounds. As the years passed, two sones were added to her growing family, and art naturally took a back seat to motherhood.
At age 37, Windee carved out a tiny space in her home as her first art studio. Armed with just two canvases, paint, and brushes from the craft store, she painted her first piece. Encouraged by her husband’s loving support – who proudly hung that first painting in their living room – she slowly began sharing her art with friends and family. For several years, she created pieces based on requests, learning technique and style through repetition, but still searching for her own unique voice.
Eventually, as her children grew up and moved out, Windee and her husband relocated to Arizona to be closer to her mother. Together, they launched a small jewelry business creating polymer clay pieces, selling at local art events. Her whimsical artwork caught the eye of the community members, leading to commissions and her acceptance as a juried artist in two fine art guilds. It was during this time she discovered the Milan Art Institute and had the opportunity to visit the school and meet Elli Milan in person. Standing among the energy of creation, she told herself: “One day, I’ll be a student here.”
Then, in April 2024, everything changed. Windee’s father Jack passed away just ten days after being diagnosed with brain cancer. His sudden loss created a deep void in her life. After settling his estate with her brother, she found herself hearing his voice in her heart: “I’m here to help you move forward in your art. You need to enroll in the Milan Mastery Program”.
Those words were a turning point.
In August 2024, she honored that message and enrolled. Since then, her art has transformed. Today, Windee created vibrant, whimsical, and joy-filled abstract work that brings energy and warmth into any space. Her pieces are a reflection of a life lived fully- one of resilience, love, motherhood, grief, and the every-returning magic of creativity.
She continues her journey with gratitude and passion, dedicated to making art that uplifts others and brings beauty into the world.
